What is the difference between reflex and transparent gauge glass?

Reflex gauge glass has prismatic grooves on one side that create a black/silver contrast between liquid and vapor, making level reading easy without additional lighting. Transparent (flat) gauge glass allows direct visual inspection of the liquid, which is useful when the color or clarity of the liquid needs to be observed. Reflex glass is generally preferred for steam and water applications, while transparent glass is used when liquid color matters.

What DIN standards do your gauge glass products comply with?

Our reflex gauge glass complies with DIN 7081, and our flat/transparent gauge glass complies with DIN 7080. Sight glass discs are manufactured to DIN 7080 and other international standards including BS, ANSI/ASME, and JIS. All products are tested and certified to meet these standards before shipment.

What is the maximum temperature and pressure for your gauge glass?

Our standard borosilicate gauge glass (DIN 7081) is rated for up to 64 bar pressure and 280°C temperature. Transparent gauge glass (DIN 7080) is rated for up to 25 bar and 200°C. For higher temperature applications, we offer quartz glass products rated up to 1100°C. Always select the appropriate product for your specific operating conditions.

Do you offer custom sizes and OEM/ODM manufacturing?

Yes, we have extensive experience with OEM and ODM manufacturing. We can produce gauge glass to your exact specifications including custom lengths, widths, thicknesses, and shapes. Minimum order quantities apply for custom sizes. Please contact us with your technical drawings or specifications for a custom quote.

What gasket materials do you recommend for gauge glass?

The choice of gasket material depends on your process media and operating conditions. PTFE gaskets are recommended for most applications due to their excellent chemical resistance and wide temperature range (-200°C to +260°C). Mica gaskets are used for high-temperature steam applications. Rubber gaskets (EPDM, NBR) are suitable for lower temperature water and oil applications. We can advise on the best gasket material for your specific application.

How do I determine the correct gauge glass size for my application?

The gauge glass size is determined by the gauge body dimensions. You need to measure the distance between the gauge body seating surfaces (the effective length), the width of the seating surface, and the thickness required. Standard sizes are specified in DIN 7081/7080. If you provide us with your gauge body model number or dimensions, we can recommend the correct gauge glass size.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

For standard sizes listed in our catalog, there is no minimum order quantity — we accept orders from a single piece. For custom sizes or special materials, a minimum order quantity may apply depending on the complexity of the order. We also offer free samples for qualified buyers evaluating our products for the first time.

How long does shipping take?

For standard products in stock, we can ship within 3-5 business days. Custom orders typically require 2-4 weeks production time. We ship worldwide via DHL, FedEx, UPS, and sea freight for large orders. Express shipping is available for urgent requirements. Delivery times vary by destination country.

Do you provide material test certificates?

Yes, we provide material test certificates (MTC) with all orders upon request. Certificates include chemical composition analysis, mechanical properties, and dimensional inspection reports. We can also provide third-party inspection and testing by SGS, BV, or other international inspection agencies.

Can gauge glass be used with aggressive chemicals?

Borosilicate glass 3.3 offers excellent resistance to most acids (except hydrofluoric acid), alkalis at moderate concentrations, and organic solvents. For highly aggressive media, quartz glass or special borosilicate compositions may be required. Hydrofluoric acid and hot concentrated alkalis will attack all glass types — in these cases, alternative materials should be considered. Please consult with our technical team for specific chemical compatibility questions.
